Until We Can Come: A Devotion on Following Him in Faith

 Verse of the Night

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 KJV

Meditation

God helps us transform. Like a caterpillar, it's hard work, but with faith, we can take flight. God is with us, working for our good.

Pray

Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for Your never-ending presence in our lives. You are a loving reminder that You are always with us, even in our most difficult times, helping us to become stronger and wiser. Amen.

In the words of my high school history teacher, "Life is hard, then you die." As long as we live on this earth, we will face trials in our daily lives. As far as my history teacher's famous line goes, for Christians who have given their life to Jesus and have chosen to follow Him, yes life is hard, but you will live again. If your name is written in the book of life at the end of your life here on earth, you will live on in Heaven. Sometimes the things we go through as Christians on this earth is to teach us something or to remind us that we can always come back to the foot of the cross. We may have to trudge through valleys and climb mountains so high that we feel as if we may never reach the top but keep on moving. Don't give up. We have nothing to lose on this earth but everything to gain in Heaven. Jesus suffered a long excruciating death to build a pathway for us to never die. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for you and me. He literally died for all mankind just so they could live eternally in Heaven. The least we could do is live for Him.
